Paštuva Discalced Carmelite Monastery, also known as the Carmelite Convent of St. Joseph and St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus, was founded in 1994–2000 in the Kaunas district, Tolivardžiai village, Batniava eldership (arch. Regimantas Andriuškevičius). The circular building symbolizes the center of Christ and His Church, and the chapel is illuminated by the rays of the sun in the morning light - like an invitation to the inner light.
A dozen sisters live here, who pray and live a contemplative life in devotion. The monastery community cares about peace and searching the heart, so the doors are open to those who desire to be in silence, participate in Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours, or chat with the sisters. Visitors can stay in the rooms in the monastery and even purchase the sisters own products here - candles, icons, honey.
The symbolism and history of the monastery building is special: after the restoration of Independence, the sisters settled in a temporary rectory, and the foundations of the new, unusually circular-shaped building were consecrated in 1996, and the consecration took place in 2000.
